Are there a few sounds that your collection seems to gravitate towards?
I always find myself being drawn to outlaw country, sad songs, or two-piece rock bands.
This is the latter; Brother O’Brother is a two-piece rock band that you need to know.
Monster Truck jams. It is gritty and raw garage rock that begs to be played loud. The fuzz is thick and heavy and punches you square in the face.
At first listen this record sounds muffled and like it may be the victim of poor production. But, you quickly realize that is part of the aesthetic. This album is the musical equivalent to a heavy haze hanging over an open field.
Monster Truck is punchy, too. Super punchy. The music pounds in your chest while the guitar riffs will set your ass on fire. There is a hint of blues that bubbles up to the top on this EP and it rounds out the sound nicely.
I have said it before, but I will say it again: Brother O’Brother sounds like Jimi Hendrix and The White Stripes had a baby. Seriously.
There really is no other way to describe the sound.
I can’t for the life of me understand why this band isn’t bigger than they are. Please buy their records.
