Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear – Live at Grimey’s

We all need to call our mom more often.  If she’s around, call her or go see her because you know that she would love to talk to you.

Madisen Ward doesn’t just regularly see his mama, he started a band with her.

Live at Grimey’s was a limited Record Store Day release and was one of the only things I saw on the long list of RSD releases that I really wanted to buy this year.

Their sound is a folky Americana rock with soul.  It is the type of music you would hear being played on the front porch of a house in Bessemer, Alabama in 1968.

Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear have the sound of a simpler world.  It is old, yet timeless.  Knowing of this band will impress your snobby music friends.

My favorite track: Silent Movies
