Elle King – Love Stuff

A good friend of mine used to date a hot bartender in Atlanta.  She was blonde with kickass tattoos and a raspy voice from years of yelling drink orders over loud music.  It is her voice that I remember the most.  That harsh, raspy party-girl voice was sexy as hell.

Elle King has the same voice.

Elle King is not a one-trick pony.  She’s not a 50s rockabilly pinup-wannabe; she has real talent.  Granted that her sound is based in that rockabilly style, but it is so much more than that.

A little country, a little blues, and a little southern rock are all mixed into Love Stuff.

Occasionally, she sounds a little like Florence Welch or Grace Potter.

My favorite track is the opener, Where The Devil Don’t Go
